Emailing companies (tips & sample letter)

Even if your looking in all the right places there sometimes isn't coupons for the products you use or want to try, but by emailing the manufacturers of the product they will sometimes send you coupons or samples that aren't available to the general public.

Start by compiling a list of the products you and your family use regularly, after a few weeks or so you will see certain products appear on the list again and again. Google these products to find their manufacturer (alternatively you can find the manufacturers details on the companies who send coupons/ samples (& their email addresses) page. Then use the tips and sample email below to compose your email to the manufacturer asking for coupons.

Tips for asking manufacturers for coupons:
~ Always be polite in your emails- they aren't going to give away coupons to those who demand them. That being said, there's no harm in asking for coupons directly- it will work for some people but may not work for others.
~ Don't complain about a product just to get coupons unless there is a genuine reason too.
~ Make sure you include your contact address- especially your email. Most online forms ask you to include this but get into the habit early on of adding them to the bottom of your emails.
~ If they reply saying they have no coupons left/ they don't provide coupons, give it a month or so, reword your email and try again. Don't give up.
~ If you face an unprofessional or rude member of staff while using coupons- email the supermarket to let them know! It makes it easier for other coupon users and the supermarket may just thank you with coupons.

Sample email:

To whom it may concern,

I have been a loyal customer to ----- for some time now, I just love how it ----- as it is the only ----- that I use (due to -----).

I would love to try more products in the range (and stock up!) but I find that some of your products can be expensive, do you have any money off coupons I could use? Or free samples I could hand out to family and friends? They are always asking to try some, but trying to squeeze some out into a smaller ----- is a nightmare!

I look forward to your response.

Kind regards,
